Butchers of the Bayou

Over the course of a decade, two prolific serial killers terrorized the women of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, raping and murdering, dismembering and cannibalizing. Neither of them ever met, but each of them knew what the other was doing and, perversely, it appears, they were trying to outdo each other in terms of their depravity and sexual deviance.

The tire track found at the Donna Bennett Johnston crime scene provided police with a long list of potential suspects--everyone in the Baton Rouge area who had purchased an Aquatred tire. Detectives were going through the list of potential suspects, eliminating them through alibis and inconsistencies, until finally they showed up at a house of Sean Vincent Gillis.
